COOKIE POLICY

Last updated

This Cookie Policy explains how Syphon Labs LLP ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies and similar technologies to recognize you when you visit our websites at https://syphonlabs.com and https://talenry.com (the "Websites"), and when you use our products, Draft, Talenry, and Daisy Recruiter, including our browser extensions and mobile apps. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them.

In some cases we may use cookies to collect personal information, or information that becomes personal information if we combine it with other information. How we handle that information is described in our Privacy Policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.

Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Syphon Labs) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies." Third-party cookies enable third-party features or functionality to be provided on or through the website (e.g., payments, interactive content, and analytics). The parties that set these third-party cookies can recognize your computer both when it visits the website in question and also when it visits certain other websites.

Why do we use cookies?

We use cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our Websites to operate, such as signing you in, keeping your session secure, and protecting against request forgery, and we refer to these as "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookies. Other cookies help us understand how our Websites are used or remember your preferences.

The Talenry app (talenry.com) currently sets only essential cookies. It does not use advertising cookies and does not run third-party analytics cookies. Our marketing website (syphonlabs.com) may additionally use analytics and conversion cookies, as described in the tables below.

Browser storage we use

Alongside cookies, the Talenry app stores some information directly in your browser using local storage and session storage. This data stays on your device, is not sent to third parties, and can be cleared at any time through your browser's site-data controls (or by signing out, for sign-in data):

Browser extensions and mobile apps

Extensions. Our browser extensions (the Draft extension and Talenry Copilot) use the browser's extension storage to hold your settings and sign-in state. Talenry Copilot may also read the tal_session cookie for talenry.com so that it can act on your own Talenry account; it does not read cookies for any other site. Extensions do not set advertising or analytics cookies.

Mobile apps. Our mobile apps do not use cookies; they store your sign-in token and settings in the device's secure storage, which is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.

Other technologies

Google Fonts. Our Websites load typefaces from Google Fonts. This does not set a cookie, but your browser sends your IP address and browser details to Google to fetch the font files.

Web beacons. We may from time to time use web beacons (tiny graphics with a unique identifier, sometimes called "tracking pixels") in our own marketing emails to understand whether they were opened and to measure campaign performance. We do not place beacons in the messages Talenry sends from your own mailbox at your direction (such as recruiter outreach). In many instances these technologies rely on cookies to function, so declining cookies may impair them.

Flash cookies. We do not use Flash cookies or Local Shared Objects.

Do you serve targeted advertising?

We do not serve third-party advertising inside the Talenry app, and no third party sets advertising cookies through it. On our marketing website we may use Google conversion measurement (see the table above) to understand whether our own ads brought you to us. The information collected through this process does not enable us or Google to identify your name, contact details, or other details that directly identify you unless you choose to provide them. Most advertising networks offer a way to opt out of targeted advertising: see the Digital Advertising Alliance, Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada, and European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance.

How can I control cookies?

You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject cookies. Essential cookies cannot be rejected while using the Services, as they are strictly necessary to provide them. Without tal_session, for example, you cannot stay signed in.

Where one of our sites shows a cookie consent banner, you can use it to select which categories of non-essential cookies you accept or reject. The Talenry app does not currently show a banner because it sets only essential cookies; if we add non-essential cookies there, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it.

You may also set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies, or to clear stored site data. The means vary from browser to browser; visit your browser's help pages: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera. If you reject or clear cookies, you may still use our Websites, though some functionality, signing in above all, will be restricted.

We honor the Global Privacy Control signal where required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.

How often will you update this Cookie Policy?

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
